Today we had some pooped puppies. They went all out their first day and this morning there was extra rest needed.
Boris made a friend on our morning walk. He rode for a good 50 yards before Boris shook him off.
I put together the fish I made for Craig in the afternoon. He really liked it and decided to hang it down by the river.
Got a bit of a late start yesterday, but had a nice uneventful drive. Boris and River were very good puppies.
The water is way down this year. It did not deter Boris who had to get a taste of that Chaumont River water.
All week we kept saying that we were going to Chaumont. River has no recollection of the word, but as soon as we got here she was so very excited. She's also loving the tall grass. Wonder if she will try to defend it once Craig starts cutting.
Lucy has decided that Boris is non threatening. She doesn't fly away when he first comes out and I caught this pic of them just chilling earlier.
I also saw the dad bird for the first time today. Wasn't quick enough catch a picture, but he brought worms for the baby. Baby is getting bigger every day.
The last egg is still there. Don't think it's going to hatch at this point.
So many good things in this kiln. Second fish for the garden stack (First fish is named Bubble, this fish is named Toil, and a fish yet to be made will be Trouble). Also my vase using Michael Harbridge's puzzle mold, my first gnome, and the first mermaid mugs!

This sweater took forever to finish. Not because it was hard but because I underestimated the yarn I needed. Had to buy more and then wait for USPS to actually get it to me. By the time they did I had baby stuff to make for a few friends having babies. Last year I was making one thing a week and this year with picking up pottery it's more like 1-2 a month.
That said I am really happy with it. The neck is really cozy and warm. It doesn't quite hang right on a hanger. Of course it is now WAY too warm to wear it.
The pattern is is the Watson Waffle Cardigan by Lakeside Loops. I followed this one pretty closely. The pattern does say to do double crochet waffles and I did half doubles because I thought it looked nicer with this yarn. The yarn is alpaca in a sport weight from Woven Gems.
Waffles up close.
Unloaded the bisque this morning. My first gnome is closer to making it into the garden. None of his hair broke off!
The bowl with the spaghetti also came through bisque in tact. Plus I fixed the leaf bowl with Ceramic Shop's Ware repair!
Mermaid mugs also made it through the bisque in tact.
How cute are the birds on the earing holder?!
My original plan was to do another bisque since there were so many things that didn't make it in, but my shelves are full so time to glaze! I think if I start tonight I should get the glaze firing done and cooled before the holiday weekend. Do I risk using my new Sexy Mermaid glaze from Midnight Ceramics on the mermaid mugs despite never having tested?
Trimmed and put handles on my mugs and cups from yesterday. Also added a few transfers.
Also tried putting on a transfer on top of underglaze. It worked ok. Need to wait longer for it to dry next time.
Last night we cut down some plywood so I could have more ware boards. Today we put poly on them. The dogs helped, sort of.
Kiln is still cooling from the bisque fire. Can't wait to see inside. Need to do another bisque. Didn't get in nearly as much as I wanted to.
Made a clay basket based on Jessica Putnam Phillips technique. It was super simple.
Start with clay strips
Weave them like you would a pie top over a large sponge.
Add a rim
When it sets up then flip
Also used my new cow stamp from De la Designs. How cute is she?
Then threw a bunch of mugs. Tomorrow will be trimming and handles. I’m also thinking of putting some transfers on these too.
Oh and Craig helped me epoxy on my butterfly graders.from the last kiln firing
