Kiln results 9/23

September 28, 2021

Had a lot of mugs to make for my upcoming company get together. I've never done pottery under a deadline before, was kind of interesting.

Finished winter sweater/jacket

September 26, 2021

While waiting for the kiln to cool yesterday I finished my new sweater/jacket. This is a replacement for the one I accidentally shrunk (which my sister is quite great full for). I somewhat followed the Granite Cardigan, but only loosely. Finished winter sweater/jacket

Leaf bowl and spoon rests

September 19, 2021

Made a leaf bowl last night and flipped it out tonight. It's so cool looking. It also has mini leaf feat.

Leaf bowl and spoon rests

Jessica Putnam Phillips inspired me to make spoon rests tonight. These will make great holiday gifts.

I'm especially pleased with this one. I was outdid this evening while we broke in the gas grill and realized how amazing citronella leaves are.

Speaking of the garden - late season monarch.

Finally back to clay

September 18, 2021

I was home from the workshop less than 24 hours last weekend before I flew to Atlanta for work. It was a great two days getting to meet people, but by the time I got home Tuesday night I was wiped. Wednesday I went to bed at like 730 and then Thursday we had to go to the grocery store because there was no food to eat. Finally got back to making some things on Friday. While I was in Atlanta I started on a new sweater. I had all the pieces together and ended up sewing the body and the front together on the plane. If I hadn't been upgraded to first class, there is no way I would have had the room. People probably thought I was nuts. But I needed to get it together to start on the collar. Collar is done now, just need to add the sleeves and see on the pockets.

Finally back to clay

Spend a little bit of time checking on the pieces from the workshop. Most were dry and are ready for bisque. I put underglaze in my name keepsake mug. I also setup a couple of tiles and my last mug to do water etching on.

Finally back to clay

This week was the first week I got to deliver mugs to my coworkers and they were a huge hit. I came home with a keg of more to make so I got to making. I made more than were requested assuming that I'd end up needing a few extras. Tonight I cleaned them up and carved in the mountains.

Clay Camp Bonus Raku

September 11, 2021

This morning we had a bonus raku firing of the pots we made day 1. Watching the Clayscapes crew raku was amazing. They were masterful and didn't drop anything. Clay Camp Bonus Raku

I did not make the snow man (Denise Desmond did). How adorable is that snow man?!

Not the best lighting,  but here are my 4 finished and scrubbed pots.

Also I am happy to report that all of my wet pieces made it home in one piece! Even the plate and the tall composite vase.

Clay Camp Day 5

September 10, 2021

Today was our last official day of the pottery workshop. I'm not going to lie, I'm exhausted. I've learned so much. Can't wait to go home and start to apply things. Also made some new pottery friends that I'm excited to continue to learn from and keep in touch with.

Our bisque ware just out of the kiln.
