Gobble, Gobble! I started glazing these turkeys and it hit me - these would be a perfect match with the peacock technique. I only had 3 so I decided to go drastic on the third one - and it's my favorite.
Snowmen are also back. They always look so uniquely individual even though they start out the same and have the same glaze colors.
Today and tomorrow are the last two days of the MacKenzie Childs Artisan Festival in Aurora, NY. Come out to see me if you're in the area.
These snowmen are so stinking cute!!! It really brings ceramics and crochet together really embodying The Ceramic Knot. These hats and scarves were done with the ends of yarn that are just in these giant bags in my spare bedroom. It's fun to find a use for them. I'll have to figure out more ways that I can combine ceramics and crochet in the future.
All of these will be with me this weekend September 29th-October 1st at the MacKenzie Childs Artisan Festival in Aurora, NY.
I was originally thinking that I would glue on button eyes, but after I made the hats I felt like they weren't needed. I did try to put eyes on one of them when I was glazing, but with the coils it just looked weird so I stopped.
Some really cute fall and winter things in this kiln. The snowmen aren't done - stay tuned later this week. Also a couple of refires in here. I'm getting more confident about refiring work that I'm not happy with. If the answer is toss it or try again then the only thing I'm using is some more energy. The glaze chip plate in this glaze load is totally worth the second firing.
I'm glazing a lot right now as I get ready for fall shows. Things will slow down soon, but many of the things in this kiln will be with me this weekend September 29th-October 1st at the MacKenzie Childs Artisan Festival in Aurora, NY. Anyone near the Finger Lakes I hope to see you there.
The snowmen at the top of the kiln are exciting, but they aren't done yet. I plan on making them hats and scarves with some leftover yarn. I can't wait to see them.
Two more Squitches peaking from the top as well. I just love them so much. There are also a lot of crabs in here because I just can't seem to make enough!
There are a lot of big things in this kiln that came out amazing. I've made another globe leaf bowl that is awesome. I had a lily pad platter that I decided to go off script on that came out amazing. I'm also really pleased with my pumpkin bowl and platter.
