Last year at the Maryland Sheep and Wool I accidentally bought two fingering weight and one DK weight of the show color Monet's Pond from Kim Dyes Yarn. I contacted Kim and was able to get 2 more of the DK weight which I made into my Shell Dome Top.
I was looking for a light summer sweater and I still had the 2 skeins of the fingering weight which turned into this beautiful sweater. It's really light an airy, but also keeps the chill off.
No pattern for this one, but what I did was pretty simple. The bulk of the sweater is half double crochet and a chain in alternating stitches. The edging on the sleeves and the collar are three chains in alternating stitches.
I think I appreciate this yarn more than I've ever actually appreciated Monet's Pond.
I swear I didn't buy it ALL. I did leave yarn for others, but I did buy a lot.
I bought a lot from my favorites - Miss Babs, Briar Rose, A Hundred Ravens, but also from others as well.
Now comes the winding. This skein is 5250 yards - that's almost 3 miles!!!
Can't wait to get inside and start buying yarn. Stay tuned....
Despite how many crab mugs I made trying to ramp up - I've sold all but one. I came home from the Cloisters and ended up making a dozen more. I also have in my head an idea for a couple of crab platters that I'll be showing soon. I only have 100 pounds of Laguna 60 left so I just ordered more. I've been using a lot more this year with the crab and birch lines that I am using more than I did last year.
The Spring Tea and Bazaar at the Cloisters this weekend was great. I had no idea it was there, but it's so amazing inside. I will definitely be going back for future events and I hope to one day attend a wedding there.
The Cloisters provided tables and it was really difficult figuring out how to take my normal setup down to a single table, but here is my setup for day 1.
My table was across from this giant fireplace and this fun little carved guitar dude.
This is one of the fireplaces from the upstairs rooms.
Ok I'm realizing just how many pictures I took of fireplaces, but they were so cool. I love the tile and the carving on these guys.
The center of this house has a gorgeous spiral stone staircase going from the basement up to the 3rd floor.
My booth setup on day 2. I added some more lights and moved some things around. I feel like this was slightly better.
