Silver Shiny Ornaments
November 03, 2026Apologies for being a little absent over the last few weeks! I rarely get sick, but I managed to catch a bug for the first time in two years, and it completely knocked me out. I was really sick for about a week, but then spent another couple of weeks trying to shake the lingering cough and exhaustion. I just had absolutely no energy to do much of anything!
Thankfully, I’m feeling much better now and working on powering through everything I need to finish for my last five shows of the year.
This weekend, I’ll be at the Howard County Craft Spectacular – three days of amazing artists and crafters at the Howard County Fairgrounds! If you’re in the Baltimore or DC area, I highly recommend stopping by. There’s always so much wonderful work to see.
On the pottery front, I’ve been playing around with some cold finish. I can’t use it on pieces that need to be washed, since it could eventually wear away, but it’s perfect for ornaments!
I wanted to dress up these dreidels a bit, so I added Mayco’s Glittering Silver. It looked great, but it also covered up the lettering more than I wanted. A little black to bring the letters back out, and I think it did the trick!
What do you think? I love how a little extra detail can completely change a piece!
