Kiln results 8/27

September 02, 2021

Finally getting around to posting kiln results from the weekend. Really happy with these results. In my previous posts I shared all the mugs that I made for my job, but wanted to post the glaze combos. This was my first time working with a speckled clay and I love the way that it turned out! All the white clays are still b-mix and the speckled clay is Kentucky Mudworks Speckled Turtle. I've been experimenting a bit with clay and these are the first pieces out of the kiln. Loving Speckled Turtle, but its hard to get where I am so I'm looking into others.

I've also been playing with Iceman from Kentucky Mudworks, but nothing has made it into bisque yet. As I'm thinking about it, I didn't write down which pieces I used Iceman on. Right now they look similar to the bmix, here's hoping that when they come out of bisque they are distinguishable from one another. I really should take better notes during the making.

I love the way all the mugs came out, but I think my favorite piece is the flower. It has a hook on the back and I'll be hanging it in my office. My office walls are purple too, there is no such thing as too much purple.
